Bapuji remembered on his 141st birthday

ITANAGAR, Oct 2: Arunachal Pradesh today joined the rest of the world in celebrating the birthday of Father of the Nation Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi.

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu garlanded the statue of Mahatma Gandhi, who is lovingly called Bapuji, at Niti Vihar near Ministers’ Bungalow Garden on the occasion of his 141st birth anniversary. The brief function organized by Arunachal Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee (APMCC) was attended, among others, by Education Minister Bosiram Siram, former minister and APMCC president Yari Dulom, APCC general secretary Minkir Lollen and office bearers of both APCC and APMCC.

Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) also celebrated the birthdays of both Mahatma Gandhi and former prime minister Lal Bahadur Shastri at Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan. The programme started with paying floral tribute to the portrait of Bapuji and Shastri by Home Minister Tako Dabi followed by other dignitaries.

Speaking on the occasion, Dabi remembered Bapuji saying that he was the apostle of peace, who sacrificed his life for creating a harmonious and tolerant atmosphere in Indian society through non-violence, an ideal country free from injustice, poverty, exploitation, opportunism and communalism. "Bapuji was a charismatic leader, who never believed in power and position. Due to his supreme sacrifice, India got independence in 1947 and the people of the country irrespective of caste, creed and religion are now enjoying their every rights of democratic country," Dabi said.

Congress has been in the forefront as the true custodian of secularism and non-violence and working for national integration and fulfilling the people’s aspirations with utmost responsibility and dedication since India got independence, Dabi said. He appealed to the people of the country to emulate Gandhiji’s ideals, who always believed in non-violence, to maintain communal harmony and national unity for safeguarding the security of the country.

In her speech, APMCC president Yari Dulom informed that the birthday of Bapuji has been declared as International Non-Violence Day’ by the UNO in 2007 and it is matter of great proud that our ‘Father of Nation" has got the recognition of "Father of the World" too. She stated that under the leadership of Bapuji, the INC launched the successful struggle for country’s freedom. Now it is an occasion to rededicate ourselves to the values that Bapuji stood for non-violence, communal harmony, service to the poor, elimination of untouchability and prevention of atrocities on SCs/STs and Women, she stated.

She also recalled the contribution of Lal Bahadur Shastri in nation building and quoted the lines of Shastriji "Jai Jawan, Jai Kissan" while stating that farmers are the main pillar of the country’s economic foundation and social development.

APCC general secretary Minkir Lollen highlighted the life and ideologies of Bapuji to rejuvenate and reinforce the country as a strong, secular, socialist and modern state.

Among others, Changkom Hondik, former minister and APCC general secretary, Vishal P. Nabam, Spokesman APCC and advisor to CM, Kafa Bagang, NSUI State unit president attended the programme.

PR leaders of Midpu Panchayat, villagers of Nanpu, Midpu-I and III and staff of government primary school, Midpu-I also conducted social service at government primary school, Midpu-I today.

East Damsite Development Welfare Committee (EDDWC), senior citizen and government servants jointly constructed an OBT building which was damaged in September 28th flood at Forest Colony, Naharlagun to mark the occasion.

District Mohila Congress Committee, East Siang district also celebrated the day at Pasighat.

At Ziro, ADC W Thickak while addressing the gathering at Government Gandhi Middle School briefed about the life and activities of the Gandhiji and encouraged the students to follow the principles of Gandhiji.

Frontier School Principal MB Vista, ADEO N Duri and Head Master L Tapa also spoke on the occasion.

Further, Government officers, school teachers and students of various schools conducted a mass social service at Ziro and Hapoli Township to mark the day.

At Kimin, Dene Ajin SHG and Changtum Dene SHG under the guidance of Kera Dadig Multipurpose Society conducted social service at Government Hospital Kimin and Santi Nagar Kimin to mark the Gandhi jayanti today. Among others, Govt staff, social workers, public and members of Papum Pare DCC participated in the social service.

Kimin EAC S Lowang and BDO T Gumbo also took part in the social service and advised the SHGs to bring awareness on total sanitation campaign to the general public of the area.

Self Help Group (SHG) federation of Action Aid Society Arunachal (AASA) celebrated the Gandhi Jyanthi today by conducting social service in Government Hospital, Naharlagun. Fifty-two members representative from each group (SHG) of villages like Nyorch, Komchi, Tarajuli, Borum –I Borum - II, Soo d, , Yirkum, Nirjuli –II Sanglopotum –I,-II, III ,Yirkum and from colonies like Barapani, SIB, Polo and A sectors took part in the social service. The cleanliness service started from their respective villages in the early morning. Later all the women gathered at General Hospital to carry out social service.

After completion of social service, all the members observed two minutes silence prayer especially for quick recovery of patient admitted in general hospital. They also visited patients, interacted with them, distributed sweets and appealed them to cooperate with authority to maintain cleanliness in hospital. Team leader and president of AASA, Teetu Yoka briefed about the need to maintain cleanliness in the hospital. She also thanked CMO M. Jini for his cooperation.

The 141st birth anniversary of the ‘Father of the Nation’ Mahatma Gandhi was observed all over India today. The National Youth Project, Gandhi Peace Foundation and Arunachal Gandhi Ashram in Collaboration with Dera Natung Govt. College, Itanagar celebrated Gandhi Jayanti at Dera Natung College, Itanagar today . Dr. S. N. Subba Rao, director of Gandhi Peace Foundation graced the occasion along with other dignitaries. The lecturers and students of DNGC along with various schools of capital also participated in the event.

During the day cultural items were presented which mesmerized the audience present. On the Occasion, college fraternity also organized extempore speech competition based on life of Mahatma Gandhi. Nikrun Bui, Jasmine Begum and Tao Abo were adjudged as 1st, 2nd and 3rd winner.

“For the first time Dera Natung Government College is celebrating Gandhi Jayanti in such large scale and from now we would like to continue celebrating it every year with dignified way”, shared Tanya Agu, General Secretary, DNGC.

C-Sector Welfare Committee, Naharlagun, which also double ups as role of door to door garbage volunteers conducted a mass social service on 2nd October coinciding Gandhi Jayanti. Various government employees, youth, women and businessmen of area participated in the social service programme.

As part of social service cleanup work was carried out in the area. Meanwhile committee has appealed to both visitors and residents staying within sector to maintain cleanliness in the area.

Donyi Mumsi Foundation Society celebrated Gandhi Jayanti today at the premises of Donyi Mumsi Foundation School. The programme was graced by Tony Koyu MD, APIDFC and President Sanskar Bharati Arunachal Pradesh, as Chief Guest.

While speaking on the occasion as chief guest Tony Koyu urged students to spread message of love among all. He also asked them to learn ethics of self respect, self discipline and self dependent.

Later a poem recitation competition was organized. About 28 participants took part in the competition. Nikita Biswas of Class II and Kago Kumi of LKG were adjudged as winner of group A and B respectively. Other prize winners include Januka Sharma, Raju Thakur, Aparna Das and Deepsika Norah.

Govt not to tolerate bandh culture

ITANAGAR, Oct 2: The State Government would not tolerate any sorts of bandh call anymore which infringes the fundamental rights of each and every citizen, stated Home Minister Tako Dabi.

"No sensible citizen will ever tolerate such Bandh call in Capital Complex or in any other parts of the state," Dabi said while asserting that Government will demonstrate befitting action, if necessary, against bandh organizers as decided in the recently held all party meet.

"If any grievances are there, it should be dotted down in the form of memorandum to the Government and resolved across the table," the Home Minister said. He hoped that "The organizations, unions and associations, who are time and again making announcement of bandh calls, will restrain themselves and will ensure smooth day to day functioning of common masses."

The Home Minister, meanwhile, informed that ‘clear-cut’ instructions and directives have already been given to the Government machinery for maintenance of law and order during Durga Puja. "The Home Department is determined to place security personnel in every nook and corner of the twin capital cities of Itanagar and Naharlagun in particular and all the districts in general, where Durga Puja will be performed." Dabi said adding that all the citizens irrespective of caste, creed and tribe should enjoy the festival and get the blessings of Durga mata.

Changing of SIC team crucial for proper investigation in PDS scam: NYC

ITANAGAR, Oct 2: The recent reports in the media have exposed in totality the lacunae and anomaly in the ongoing investigation in the Public Distribution System (PDS) scam by the Special Investigation Team (SIC) and the partiality of the state government of Arunachal Pradesh, said Nationalist Youth Congress National General Secretary Mongol Yomso today.

Mentioning the media report, the NYC leader said it is very disturbing to know that one of the biggest scandals to ever hit the whole of northeast India is being handled by person of dubious records. This clearly indicates the cavalier attitude of the Arunachal Pradesh government toward such a sensitive issue. This raises lot of questions about the sincerity and integrity of the government towards an issue that has larger public ramification, he said.

Why the Govt has handpicked an officer like M S Chauhan, with dubious service records to handle such an important case? Why particular leniency and favoritism was there for the said officer by the erstwhile Home Minister Jarbom Gamlin? Why the Dorjee Khandu government is so keen on retaining him as the officer heading the SIC team? – These are some logical questions that come to mind of the people, Yomso said. The NYC leader further wonders that out of 96 accused named in the PDS scam why the SIC has arrested only former Chief Minister Gegong Apang and objected granting of bail by the court? Why it did not object the bail petitions of the other accuses? This clearly indicates that Apang is politically victimized and M S Chuahan serve as a convenient tool in this whole game plan, Yomso said.

Stating that law is equal for all, the Nationalist Youth Congress vehemently condemned this episode and demanded equal treatment to all the suspects in the PDS scam.

Since the manning of the SIC team is the prerogative of the state government, why the state government is not changing the SIC team with officers of proven integrity, competence and caliber rather than officer of proven incompetence such as Mr. M S Chauhan? the NYC further questioned and demanded replacement and reconstitution of the SIC team to expedite the investigation of the PDS scam to bring the crucial issue to a conclusion. NYC also appealed to the people of Arunachal Pradesh to join hands and demand for changing the SIC team.

Transport federation oppose bandh

ITANAGAR, Oct 2: Central executive committee of All Arunachal Pradesh Public Transport Federation (AAPPTF) in an emergency meeting held today with its federal units All Arunachal Pradesh Maxicab Association (AAPMA), All Truck Welfare Association (ATWA), City Service Maxicab Association (CSMA), All Tourist Taxi Association (ATTA), Arunachal Tempo Welfare Association (ATWA), All Auto Richsaw Welfare Association (AARWA), All Arunachal Bus Welfare Association (AABWA) and All Capital Complex Tata Mobile Welfare Association (ACCTMVIWA) unanimously decided to opposed the proposed band call given on October 04 by three organisations and also decided to ply their vehicle as usual.

Further, AAPPTF said that the proposed bandh call is totally against the interest of the public and will affect the developmental activities and economy of the state particularly Transporters and daily wages earner. Meanwhile, the AAPPTF Secretary General Dobing Liyak Sonam, appeal the public to co-cooperate with the vehicle operators.

AAPYO urges Govt to take action

ITANAGAR, Oct 2: All Arunachal Pradesh Youth Organization (AAPYO), a neutral organization of the conscious youths of the state, has expressed serious concern over the multi-crore PDS scam with involvement of 96 accused persons including 44 Govt employees.

Demanding equal punishment to all the accused in the PDS scam, the organisation also questioned why the authorities has failed to take action against all other 95 accused and why action is being taken only against former Chief Minister Gegong Apang who is a ‘father figure of the state’.

Regarding the proposed 24 hours bandh call given by the three organizations on Oct 4, the Organisation also asked the Govt why it has not taken any measures yet to call off the proposed bandh.

It appealed the state Govt to take some important steps in order to prevent such type of activities in the state for smooth functioning of the state Govt machineries for development.

56th Wildlife Week begins

ITANAGAR Oct 2: Weeklong programme to mark the 56th Wildlife Week 2010 started with colourful note when the state Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu flagged off the ‘Walk for Wildlife’ from Akashdeep market here this morning. Enthusiast and wildlife lovers thronged the event in thousands to carry the walk rally. Organised by the Department of Environment & Forest, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh, the weeklong programme includes numbers of wildlife awareness campaigns, seminars etc.

Khandu, who is on a mission to save the wildlife and had been continuously advocating for the same on every given opportunity has called the civil societies, NGOs and the local citizens to bring awareness for safeguarding the wildlife. Khandu on several occasions has warned the violators of wild life Acts with stern action accordance to Wildlife Preservation Act.

Make the educational system dynamic: Education Minister

ITANAGAR, Oct 2: The Education Minister Bosiram Siram invited the All Arunachal Private Schools’ Association(AAPSA) to address the seminal issues of transforming the existing educational system into a truly dynamic system with a mission to educate all. He was addressing the delegates on the 4th Annual general conference of All Arunachal private School’s Associations held at Royal International School at Papunallah on the 2nd of October.

The minister also lauded the initiatives taken by the association such as orientation programmes for teachers and heads of schools and leadership programmes for school going children with an objective to foster relationship among private schools. He also highlighted the achievements of the state government in passing the Arunachal Pradesh Education Act and framing the State Right to Education rules. He exhorted AAPSA and the state education department to concentrate on human resource development and said, “I promise to stand beside AAPSA always in their endeavour for the upliftment of education in the State.

Former Minister of Education R K Khrimey who was the guest of honour at the function in his speech stressed on the need for education to create the National feeling among the students while at the same time ensuring local cultural rootedness.

AAPSA which came into existence in 2008 has initiated several orientation and leadership programmes for heads of schools, teachers and students. Shillong Chamber Choir wins ‘India’s Got Talent Khoj 2'

Mumbai, Oct 2: Meghalaya’s Shillong Chamber Choir Saturday won the talent reality show India’s Got Talent Khoj 2 and bagged Rs.50 lakhs in prize money. They also got a Kawasaki 250cc Ninja bike.

It won the title after defeating Toko Teji, a drummer from Arunachal Pradesh who came second and Bir Khalsa, a Sikh Martial Arts Group from Punjab came third.

The finale, aired on Colors, consisted of nine acts including Fictitious Dance Group from Mumbai, Harihar Das - the popping and locking professional from Orissa, Sonjoy Mondol group from Kolkata, Manas Sahoo and Group - sand artists from Orissa, Diwakar and Sonia - the dancing twosome from Mumbai and a rock band from Kolkata - Underground Authority.

The show, which went on air about three months ago, was judged by actresses Kirron Kher and Sonali Bendre along with director Sajid Khan.

Social service to mark Gandhi Jayanti

ITANAGAR, Oct 2: The 141st birth Anniversary of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi was celebrated in befitting manner in the state today.

North East Development Welfare Society, Itanagar along with staff and students of Donyi Polo Mission School For Hearing Impaired, Chimpu conducted social service at school compound on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti today. Besides drawing competition amongst the students of the institution, numbers of tree sapling were also planted to mark the day.

Is Arunachal heading to gain celebrity status in the field of corruption ?

ITANAGAR, Oct 2: These days whenever one opens any Arunachal based newspapers, it’s PDS scandal and PRC issue which are hogging the headlines. Both being sensitive and emotional issue are very dear to every Arunachalee. With PRC order being revoked by state government, hopefully this issue will die a natural death. But still many questions remain to be answered. State government very lately explained to us that PRC was issued on humanitarian ground to non-APSTs living in Lohit and Changlang districts.

There seems to be no clear cut policy on the part of state government to deal with this emotive issue of granting PRC to non-APST. Tribal people of Arunachal naturally fear that issuing of PRC to non-APST will make them minority in their own land. If state government does not take local people into confidence, they will never accept such kind of order in future too.

Another issue which hurts the sentiment of majority Arunachalees is PDS scandal. Lot of thing has been said and written about rupees 1000 crore (figures keep juggling) PDS scandal. Literally political game is being played using this issue. But what about those poor people for whom these PDS items were meant for. They never received those food items and even today they are facing many problems as food grains are not reaching to them on time.

What mistakes they have done to be treated like this? These poor and innocent people living in interior places were denied of their basic right to food. People staying in interior places like Tali, Parsi-Parlo, Takshing , Anini and other remote areas of state look up to PDS items to sustain their livelihood. But with all hullabo about PDS scandal, most of the Arunachalee are losing faith on Public Distribution System. It’s tough to blame any particular person or politicians, but I guess we all are to be blamed for this mess. The mistakes have been committed and Arunachal as a state is paying heavy price for it. Today central government and Food Corporation of India always look upon us with suspicious because of the present PDS scandal. National media which rarely focus their attention on Arunachal except during Chinese flirtation over state had a field day by bashing about Arunachal using PDS scandal.

Already there is talk on the street that hydropower could be the next big scandal coming out of Arunachal. With no transparency regarding MOAs/MOUs signed with private developers, many Arunachalee fears that upfront money received are being distributed among selected groups. It’s time civil societies, student unions and NGOs exert pressure on government to come clean on hydropower. Or else one day in future we may have to hide our head in shame, when Arunachal gains celebrity status in national level for being the most corrupted state of India. Already PDS scandal has done enough damage to the reputation of this beautiful state, we can’t afford to have another scandal of such magnitude. Also not many people are happy with construction of mega dams in their area. Especially people of Siang belt and Dibang have been bitterly opposing construction of mega dam in their areas. Despite opposition, state government in coherent with private developers wants to go ahead with construction, which I guess is not a right policy.

What many people are missing is that issues like PDS scandal, hydropower and issuing of PRC to non-APST are giving birth to generation of frustrated youths. There is growing frustration among present generation Arunachalee youths cutting across the tribe legion. Such wrong policy and high level corruption is making them angry but they also feel helpless as things are out of their reach. Anti-social elements may use these kinds of opportunities to track such frustrated souls and repercussion can very dangerous for this state.

National Himalayan Trekking Expedition-2010 from Oct 05

ITANAGAR, Oct 2: The preparation for the National Himalayan Trekking Expedition-2010 in West Kameng and Tawang District from October 05 to November 05 organized by Arunachal Mountaineering and Adventure Sports Association (AMASA) is in full swing, informed AMASA President cum programme Director Tsering Wange over phone from Guwahati this evening.

The AMASA members will be available at its base office at Brahmaputra Lodge, Guwahati, Assam to receive the participants of the trekking expedition, who are coming from different parts of the country.

BOOGIE WOOGIE team to take part in travel Congress

ITANAGAR, Oct 2: The Arunachal Boogie Team is leaving for Tawang on Oct 3 to participate and perform at Arunachal Travel Congress being organized by All Arunachal Pradesh Tour operators Association wef 3rd to 5th October 2010. The team is being led by Kipa Ajay, Chairman, Organising Committee of Arunachal Boogie Woogie with 5 (five) dancers from the top 10 finalist of the competition. The tour would give the dancers of Arunachal Boogie Woogie to expose their talents to a larger audience.

Meanwhile, the 4th round of the dance competition is scheduled to be held on 3rd Oct 2010 (Sunday) from 5 pm onwards at national Cinema Hall Naharlagun. The special guest of the evening will be Taba Ajum, a young energetic Journalist of the State. The evening will be also attended by a noted Assamese Film Director who is likely to select a few dancers from the Arunachal Boogie Woogie for a Song sequence in his next project.

Govt decision on PRC welcomed

ITANAGAR, Oct 2: The indigenous people of Lohit and Changlang districts has welcomed the decision of state government to cancel their earlier order of issuing permanent residential certificate(PRC) to non-APSTs in the two districts. In a press statement, All Tai Khampti Singpho Students Union (ATKSSU) and All Mishmi Students Union (AMSU) the two student bodies of Lohit and Changlang have appreciated support of every Arunachalee in the last few days.

“We are thankful to AAPSU, civil societies, NGOs and every student organizations of state who came out strongly against government decision to issue PRC to non-APST. Without their support, we could not have got success in our fight against this cruel decision,” two unions said in a release. Though happy with government decision to revoke order, the two student unions stated that tribal people of Lohit and Changlang want an apology from members of cabinet sub-committee on PRC for committing such mistake. “Their favourable decision to grant PRC to non-APSTS made life miserable for local people of two districts. Also by now it quite clear that Supreme Court has never given any order in this regard. Committee should apologize to people of Arunachal for lying to us and for working against interest of local people,” the two unions demanded.

Meanwhile they have also demanded immediate cancellation of land lease agreement penned with non-APST in Lohit and Changlang districts. “Lease agreement of Tezu town where non-APSTs are living in large number is expiring very soon. Like this there are many other places where non-APSTs are staying in leased land. We request government to cancel these agreements for the benefit of local indigenous people,” union added. ATKSSU and AMSU has also appealed to apex student body AAPSU to look into the matter of non-APST people enjoying right to vote and become members of Panchayat samiti in Lohit and Changlang districts. Nyapin, Sangram , Phassang Students Union has appreciated AAPSU, ANSU, ALSU, DSU and other student organizations for fighting massively against government’s decision to grant PRC to non-APST in Lohit and Changlang. Terming cancellation of PRC order as victory for indigenous people of Arunachal, NSPSU hope AAPSU will continue to fight for interest of local Arunachalee in future too.

APB&OCWW Board and workers awareness campaign concludes

MIAO, Oct 2: The Arunachal Pradesh Building & Other Construction Workers Welfare Board’s awareness campaign cum meeting concluded at community hall Miao amidst huge gathering of workers from various Blocks from Dayeng, Kharsang and Bordumsa today.

Addressing the workers, APB&OCWWB Chairman Jalley Sonam, Chairman, highlighted about the various regulations made by the state government for the welfare of the workers and advised the workers to enroll their name in the Board to avail the benefits.

He appreciated Circle Officer, Kharsang and Officer Incharge Police Station Kharsang A.J. Lungping and C. Longri for their support and cooperation during the visit to Geoenpro and also appreciated Kharsang Oil field.

Sonam suggested the officer to give priority to local youth of the state while placing Security Guard and Safety Mining Officer job in the company and advised the authority to deposit the 1% cess amount to the Board on earliest means.

Meanwhile, Baruah assured to deposit 1% cess according to the relevant rules of Cess Act 1996.

ATSU decries irregularities

ITANAGAR, Oct 2: The Khonsa-Lazu RGGVY project continues to illusion people as the project is yet to illuminate the area due to non execution/ implementation of the central scheme.

The project with an estimated cost of Rs. 6,42,42,992 was first awarded to one Pappu Tayel alias Vijay Kumar Tayel, proprietor of M/S Halder Enterprises, Tinsukia, and later on, the offer was cancelled and Pappu Tayel alias Vijay Kumar Tayel was arrested and black listed for producing fake bank guarantee documents against the project, All Tirap Students’ Union (ATSU), informed.

Again in February, 2010, ATSU said, the project was directly awarded to one DP Bajaj, proprietor of M/S DP Bajaj (I.V), Uday Nagar, Bokaghat, Assam by Er. Ashok Kumar Singh, EE Electrical division Deomali without floating any tender notification in local dailies. However, Bajaj was disqualified for the work for failing to submit bank guarantee even after signing of acceptance letter (LOA), ATSU informed.

ATSU, in its press statement, further stated that after termination of DP Bajaj, Er. AK Singh again awarded the project work to M/S KT Enterprises, Naharlagun without proper notification. Unfortunately, the M/S K T Enterprise too failed to produce valid documents of bank guarantee and the project is still longing for a bonafide and efficient hand to see proper implementation.

While demanding for publishing re tender notification in local dailies against the said project for proper implementation, ATSU appealed to authority concerned to take legal action against the erring EE responsible for all irregularities resulting in delay in implementation of the project.

Death of Tanung Mize mourned

ITANAGAR, Oct 2: On behalf of all the members of the Jering Matkir Society, the central executive body of the JMS condoled the sad demise of late Tanung Mize, who was one of its senior most and prominent members. It is, indeed, an irreparable loss for the Society and the Adi Community in general.

In a condolence message the Society said Tanung Mize was one of the best traditionalist and oral historian not only in the Jering Matkir Society but also in the whole Adi community. He was very well known for his prowess in Adi Ponung and Kebang. His wealth of knowledge in these areas was immense.

Hailing from Pangkang village, he was also one of the prominent public figures in Pagin- Boleng area of East Siang district. He held different posts in various capacities in his long public life. He was an active member of Adi Baane Kebang too. He was one of the key members who revived the Adi Baane Kebang that culminated in the landmark Doying Gumin conference in Pasighat, the society said.

Tanung Mize is survived by two sons and four daughters namely: Nalong Mize, Former Adviser, Chief Minister, Arunachal Pradesh, Doctor Tenzing Mize, Medical Officer, Ms. Aroty Mize, Educationist, Mrs. Yaming Mize Kombo, Wife of Katan Kombo, Public Leader, Dr. Pema Diky Mize, Ph.D, Assistant Professor, Rang Frah Government College, Changlang , w/o Mr. Tabong Sitang and Ms. Joymoti Mize, Advocate, New Delhi.

Jering Matkir Society extends its support to the grieving family members of Tanung Mize during this trying time. The Society prays to the almighty for eternal peace of the departed soul.

Support to bandh withdrawn

ITANAGAR, Oct 2: All Palin, Chambang, Yangte, Gante and Tarak-Langdi Students Union and Koloriang, Damin, Parsi-Parlo and Sarli Students’ Union (KDPSSU) have withdrawn their support to the proposed bandh call given by the AKKDSU on Oct 4. In separate press releases, both the unions said that there are no genuine and supporting points to move a bandh. Both the unions also urged the Govt to maintain transparency in smooth functioning of the PDS.

Upper Subansiri BJP calls

ITANAGAR, Oct 2: Bharatiya Janata Party Upper Subansiri District unit said that the local public leader should urge the department concerned to disclose the total fund allocation under SPA/SCA/ACA in Dumporijo area.

He further said that authorities should also disclose the total amount paid to contractors or suppliers under SPA,SCA schemes in order to maintain transparency in Govt functioning.

Most of the works under SPA, SCA, ACA have been executed last year but bills are still kept pending, the BJP unit claimed. Information that damages caused to the PWD executive engineer office, JE quarters on Sept 28 last under Dumporijo division, the BJP unit claimed that it was the result of outburst of frustration of the SPA/SCA/ACA contractors “whose 60 per cent of the bill was cut off while making payment.’

Follow recruitment rules, says ADPSTA

ITANAGAR, Oct 2: Arunachal DIET Pre-Service Teachers’ Association, (ADPSTA) has appealed the authorities to follow the recruitment rules and guidelines of the state Govt and National Council of Teachers Education, New Delhi while recruiting the A/T A in the state.

There is specific mention the guidelines that minimum qualification for recruitment in A/T A post is class XII passed with two years diploma course in DIET, the Association pointed out and said that it will oppose illegal for the posts of A/Ts (A).

Mobile mystery in Sagalee !

ITANAGAR: In a bizarre situation today, a person allegedly became senseless after he received call from a mysterious number at around 11:30 in the morning.

Informing about the incident, All Papum Pare District Student’s Union (APPDSU) president Nabam John claimed that the victim, Nabam Pada of Nakar village under Sagalee after receiving call from no. 9477623309 became unconscious and had to be rushed to the Sagalee Medical Centre for immediate recuperation. He was released after spending 2 hour in the hospital. According to John, Tada had claimed that when the call came from that number, the network section of the screen turned into three colours that of red, green and blue.

John further informed that Tada claims he doesn’t remember what happened to him after receiving the call.
